Background

  • An established Dutch company setting up a new UK operation
  • Wanted to expand from two to 50 employees in five years

Challenges

  • To mirror the Dutch benefit structure as closely as possible
  • To implement a comprehensive competitive employee benefit programme from the outset to assist with recruiting the right talent
  • To maintain costs at a manageable level
  • Timing. The company wanted to recruit immediately and needed remuneration info to do it

What we did

  • Researched the existing Dutch employee benefit structure, created a comparison report and recommendations for a mirror image UK employee benefit programme
  • Negotiated excellent rates and terms with the recommended providers using the companies business plan goals for expansion
  • Introduced a specialist HR consultant to deal with the production of staff handbook and contracts from the outset
  • Implemented the five core benefits for the two existing employees and communicated with each new employee as and when they were recruited

Results

  • The two person start up team were able to act with confidence and concentrate on the all important sales and recruitment elements of their business whilst placing employee benefit and HR issues in our hands
  • New recruits were able to discuss all aspects of the employee benefits programme either prior to joining as part of their decision making process or after joining as part of their enrolment into the programme
  • The Dutch parent company has UK employees on a benefits programme that is as consistent as possible with the Dutch scheme within the parameters of the UK tax regime and benefit system
